Outside

The outdoors is a big part of life at La Bastide, and the mild climate encourages a huge range of flowering plants and shrubs. La Bastide is surrounded by 12000m2 of gardens, with both groomed and wilder areas to explore.

Extensive lawns in front of the house and around the pool terrace are perfect for lawn games. Below the 17th century 'Pigeonnier' (stone tower) and around the grounds are paths that meander through the olive terraces and fruit trees, encouraging you to stroll around and discover the property.

Behind the house, a smaller manicured area with superb views towards Montauroux and Callian is the ideal spot for long lunches, sunset cocktails and evening barbeques. Rejuvenate your senses, and rediscover nature and the simple life at this beautiful Provençal villa.

The Pools

The heated, 15m x 6m salt water pool has an infinity edge, and there is a second 'baby' pool below for younger kids to splash around. An underwater ledge runs along the length of the large pool, ideal for sitting and chatting with a cool drink in your hand.

Safety is a priority. The large pool has an electric pool cover. "Safe T" turtle wristbands for children are available; and the 'baby' pool remains covered unless otherwise requested. Please remain aware of the inherent danger of swimming pools, in particular the infinity edge, and exercise the utmost caution at all times.

The Terraces

There are 5 separate terraces totalling over 300m2 suitable for dining, entertaining and individual relaxation. There are private seating areas directly outside each suite, perfect for a peaceful coffee.

The Pool Terrace

There are 10 sun loungers around the pool, as well as a comfortable shaded lounge area where you can retreat in the heat of the day. The pool terrace has a fully equipped summer kitchen, with fridge, dishwasher, sink, and gas barbeque, a 12 seater dining table and a large seating area, meaning that you can spend all day around the pool. A 12 seater dining table and large seating area means you can stay by the pool all day.

'Bar des Trois Arches'

Under the main terrace, there is a terrace with hammocks, table and comfy chairs, which is a lovely quiet spot for snoozing and reading in the cool of the shade or watching live summer sports on the big screen.

The Front Terrace

An extension of the dining room, the huge, south facing terrace is sunny all day and overlooks the pool and Pigeonnier. Welcome shade is provided by the beautiful oak tree around which the house is aligned.

The large table is made for outside dining, particularly in the evening; whilst armchairs and sofas offer a relaxing venue for morning coffee and newspapers.

The Garden Terrace

Under the dappled shade of the magnificent oak tree at the front of the house is a large hammock and recliner chairs. It’s the best place for cooling breezes, reading and observing the pool at a suitable distance.

The Back Terrace

A partly paved, partly landscaped terrace is at the rear of the house. With easy access to the kitchen, and a large outdoor dining table this is an ideal shaded area for long leisurely lunches. A built in 6 -burner gas barbeque and sink make this another wonderful venue for alfresco cooking and dining.
